"description": "Cam-lever quick-release clamp on a bolt-down fixture base plate, 32 parts, built from scratch against Orchard doctrine (JOINING §3 thick-wall Lame press fit, SPRINGS extension-spring design, ENGINEERING build order + plan_build->build->critique_design loop, THREADS add_thread recipe, REFERENCE_DESIGNS pin/bushing pivot pattern). MECHANISM: the lever integrally carries an ECCENTRIC CAM lobe (radius 14mm, offset 4mm off the pivot axis -- camExtent(theta)=ecc*cos(theta)+R_cam, live-measured on the built geometry, not just hand-calculated: see NUMBERS). The lever+cam pivots on a bronze bushing PRESS-FIT into its own hub bore (JOINING §3 Lame), which itself rotates on a steel pin running through the bolted pivot-bracket clevis ears; the pin is retained axially by a flanged head on one side and a snap-in E-CLIP on the other. As the lever rotates the cam bears on a flat follower face on the moving jaw's tower, sliding it (retained vertically by two bolted GIB STRIPS, guided in a plate pocket) toward the bolted FIXED JAW -- both jaws carry a replaceable hardened pad. A light extension SPRING (hooked between the jaw's tab pin and a threaded ADJUSTER POST) re-opens the jaw the instant the lever releases; screwing the post in/out sets spring preload. An illustrative 16mm workpiece sits gripped in the closed-pose gap. The whole fixture bolts to a table/mill-bed via 4 counterbored M6 holes. NUMBERS (live-verified in-app): cam throw = 2*eccentricity = 8mm (measured directly off the built lobe/bore edge centers, see mechanism-throw check in the build log, not assumed from the nominal parameter) -> jaw gap 24mm open, 16mm closed (workpiece thickness). Mechanical advantage ~= lever_len_mm/R_cam = 6.1:1. Press fit (calculate_press_fit, bronze bushing Ø10 in steel hub Ø22, delta=0.01mm, engagement 14mm): interface pressure 63.95 MPa, hub bore hoop stress 97.26 MPa, hub safety factor 2.295, axial holding force 3375.15 N. Spring (calculate_spring, wire Ø0.9, OD7, Na=6): rate n/a N/mm. PARAMETRIC (the 3 required swappables): cam_ecc_mm (4, sets clamping range/throw = 2x), jaw_open_mm (24, open-pose gap), lever_len_mm (85, mechanical advantage) are document variables; lever_len_mm is bound to the handle sketch (bind_param ok, expr -(lever_len_mm - grip_r_mm), affectedOps 2) but live regen was NOT cleanly demonstrable in-session (lever bbox dx 103 -> 103 on 85->105; see LESSONS bind_param note) -- analytic propagation: handle-tip x = -(lever_len_mm - grip_r_mm) - grip_r_mm, so +20mm on lever_len_mm lengthens the handle by exactly 20mm and raises mechanical advantage lever_len/R_cam from 6.1:1 to 7.5:1. DISCLOSED: Return spring is a light re-open-only spring (the cam, not the spring, supplies clamping force); coil + hook wires modeled as sibling parts (one physical wire in reality, asm-05 precedent) at approximate anchor positions rather than a single continuous solved wire path. Illustrative workpiece (16mm thick, exactly filling the closed-pose gap) shows the clamp gripping stock -- not a machine part. M3/M4/M5/M6 fastener thread helices economized (shanks at nominal Ø inside tap-drill/clearance holes -- the overlap zones ARE the thread engagements, asm-02/03/04/05 treatment); the M6 tension adjuster post carries the one REAL add_thread helix in this build. Screw-in-tap, press-fit, and pin-in-bore overlap zones are the expected check_interference pairs.",
