"description": "Formula-Student-scale front corner: 7075 plate wishbones on M10 pivots, machined upright with four ball studs in spherical sockets, tie rod, 60 N/mm coil-over (3.3 N·s/mm damper), Ø520 wheel, 63 kg quarter-car chassis sliding on two rig posts, road plate on a position servo. Physics playground: the coil-over is a spring between chassis and lower arm at the eye centres (preloaded 18 mm = ride height), the strut halves carry the stroke stops, the road plate drops 60 mm then throws a 40 mm bump in 50 ms. MEASURED (rec 6.5 s): sag 18 mm strut / 32 mm chassis, coil-over 1.67 kN at the landing and 2.92 kN at the bump, tyre contact 3.28 kN, damper stroke −14..+15 mm, settles under 1 s. FEA from the coil-over peak on the lower wishbone (held at the pivots + ball joint): 48 MPa, 0.52 mm, factor of safety 5.7 (7075 modelled as 6061). Fatigue on the spring channel: 35 cycles, equivalent amplitude 15.7 MPa vs 111 MPa aluminium fatigue strength — effectively infinite. MODELED: rigid tyre (the 1.1 mm study interference is contact penetration; a real tyre deflects ~10 mm), spring as a Rapier spring joint, load direction rounded to −Z. Manufacturing: 7075 plate arms + upright, 4130 tie rod / studs / pins, catalog rod ends and coil-over.",
